Why is software playing such an important role when it comes to compressed air monitoring?
The installed measurement equipment in a compressed air system provides real time data output of every sensor, like the air flow output of a compressor, energy consumption and many more. Typically, the sensors / meters are connected to a gateway, like our display and data loggers, where the data is gathered and stored locally. But that means, the data is only stored safely in a data logger, to provide a monitoring of the compressed air system, a software solution is needed. The monitoring software provides a live view of the system, it alarms users if limit values are reached, it creates automatic reports and helps users to understand their system.

SUTO software is capable to analyze big data sets, create useful graphic views or provides real time values of each single sensor. Bigger systems can be grouped into smaller locations, so all values can be easily seen in a single screen. But not only live values are important, especially the past data is crucial for optimizing compressed air system, going back in time and recognize changes on the system, finding degrading components or other irregularities.
Which sensor types can be connected to SUTO software solutions?
SUTO software solutions are optimized to work with SUTO hardware. Display and data loggers can be automatically detected in the network environment. So local flow meters, power meters and dew point sensors can be all connected to the software. But SUTO software is also based on standard protocols, which allows users to connect any third party device to the monitoring solution. 

For this, SUTO software support Modbus/RTU and Modbus/TCP protocols to collect the data from any compressed air measurement solution. Furthermore, via gateways, its even possible to integrate any industrial protocol into the system.

Which software is used to configure SUTO sensors in the field?
Almost all SUTO sensors for compressed air and gases are equipped with a wireless interface. To connect to the installed sensors in the field, SUTO offers a free app, which runs on any smartphone. Most of the engineers installing measurement equipment are used to carry around bulky laptops, notebooks and several interfaces which allows them to connect to local hardware. Not only can the hardware often not be reached easily, but also having the need of constant power supply makes the commissioning of sensor hardware complicated and time-consuming.

SUTO solved that by offering wireless solutions directly integrated into the sensor, paired with dedicated smartphone applications.

Now, technicians and engineers can connect to sensors and measurement equipment wirelessly and from a distance. The application shows the real-time measurement data and allow users to configure the sensors easily. Parameters like pipe diameters, communication parameters or analog output scaling can be done easily from the smartphone with a single click.
